I have two taxonomies (let's say "Taxonomy A" and "Taxonomy B"). Both contain thousands of concepts. I tried to generate mappings from the Crosswalk. Interestingly, with the mapping from "Taxonomy A" to "Taxonomy B", I did not get any suggestions. But with the mapping from "Taxonomy B" to "Taxonomy A", I got about 300 results. Each result contains multiple suggestions.

I thought the mapping results would have nothing to do with the mapping order. I am wondering how the default mapping algorithm works. Could you please elaborate?

Thanks.

Best regards, Kai

Hello Kai,

are you referring to the "Switch Mapping Direction" button

or did you create two distinct Crosswalks (for both directions)?

The Switch direction button does not impact the suggestions generator, which will only use the primary direction and thus return the same results in both cases.

If you have two distinct Crosswalks, you may indeed get different suggestions, because the algorithm will:

for each unmapped term from the source asset collection
find matching terms from the target asset collection

So if Taxonomy A already has mappings then no further suggestions will be created.

If this doesn't sound plausible, we'd need more details (examples?) of what you have.

Regards
Holger
