I want to mark some classes as Abstract classes to prevent people from instantiating them. dash:abstract seems to exist, but is that standard SHACL?

Yes, dash:abstract was introduced to fill this gap - not just for the
SHACL standard but general RDF modeling.
Like most features in the dash namespace it may become input to a future
WG for standardization.
