Simplified Form Views

Hello-

Back with the old EDG editor more based on SWP and with the help of TBC, it was straightforward to figure out how to render simply the form view component of a resource. Is it possible now to, given an asset collection or graph, render just the form view of a resource? If so, is there a way to do it such that can the toolbar with the Explore and Modify menus and the Edit button be shown? 

Actually, perhaps a more generalized version of this question is the following: is there a straightforward way to display the contents of only one panel available in the editor (whether form view case mentioned above or anything else, such as the class hierarchy) , and if so, can is be done in editable or read-only mode (presumably partially impacted by user permissions)?

Hi Matt,

Nothing immediate comes to my mind w.r.t. a simple view component. We still have SWA view form components around but we plan to gradually retire them, so it would be dishonest to recommend them. Also they would probably use different layouts etc than what you see in the “new” React-based editor.

So I am afraid the best bet would be EDG itself, if that applies to your deployment situation. You could define a Layout that only has the Form panel and then provide hyperlinks with the # part pointing at the resources you want to display. The obvious advantage is that such a thing has all the Explore and edit functionality, including control over who can edit what.
