Selecting a data source for a new corpus

The documentation for creating a new corpus in EDG says: "Whenever a new Corpus is created, EDG requires the user to select its data source, as Corpora can be configured to connect to an external source." I would like to be able to select the "URL list" connector option.

But when I go to create a corpus, I don't get asked to select anything; I just get taken straight to the Import tab. Is there something higher-level that I need to make sure is set up/configured properly before I can create a corpus with an external connector? Or is this another case of the documentation being out of sync with the user interface? (I'm using EDG 6.2.3.)

Data source selection is part of the Create dialog - as shown below.

The default is “No connector” which means you will upload documents manually one by one. So, “requires” may be too strong of a word. If you do nothing, then the default will be used as it is pre-selected.

Once you create a corpus, you will not be able to change the connector.

In addition to the options above, there is a built-in connector for S3, but it is only available as a special build of 6.2.3 or in 6.3. Other connectors can be defined by using the underlying connector framework.

Irene, thanks for the quick reply. I don’t get that view when I go to create a new corpus; I just get this:

Again, this is in 6.2.3. Should I open a bug ticket?

Carl,

Your create page customization is overriding the default for corpus.  Send me the latest version of the file off list and I'll see about excluding corpora create page from the override.
