Opening .tre files in figtree

to TNT-Tree Analysis using New Technology

Hello,

I would like to open a .tre file in Figtree. However, I get an error message that reads "missing closing ')' in tree" and cannot open the file. Is there anything I can do to make my .tre file readable?

Hi Alex, you can export trees in Newick format using " export = mydatafile.tre " . Figtree has no problem to read that file.

Hello! Try to open the .tre file in an text editor and change (ctrl+H) :

* for ;
space for ,
)( for ),(
,) for )

See if it works!

Hi Alex. Try to change the extension file to .nwk and test if this open. Also, you phylogenetic tree was generated in which program?
