I intend to enable SSL for tiddlywiki.com over this weekend, the 11th/12th November 2017.

The result will be that https://tiddlywiki.com (and https://classic.tiddlywiki.com) will work, and that the plain http:// variants will redirect to the https:// variant.

The motivation for the change is that it ensures that the TiddlyWiki code isn’t tampered with in between the server and your browser — we’ve had some issues in the past where people were downloading TiddlyWiki over a proxy that modifies HTTP traffic.

Two specific motivations are:

* At present, the plugin library doesn’t work for TiddlyWiki’s hosted on HTTPS
* Google are in the process of demoting websites that serve their content only over HTTP

I created a GitHub issue to track technical aspects of the transition:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/3005

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,

Best wishes

Jeremy

Woohoo!  Looking forward to hopefully being able to pull the plugin library from https.

The switchover is now completed, and https://tiddlywiki.com/ and https://classic.tiddlywiki.com are up and running.

The official plugin library should now be usable by wikis served from https:// as well as http:// and file://

Please let me know if you run into any issues — this is a big change, and although it’s supposed to be a seamless switchover, there could easily be unforeseen problems.

Many thanks,

Jeremy.

Hi BJ

How did that come about? It looks like you were on an https wiki but attempting to load the plugin library from a http URL. That’s the one combination that won’t work; you’ll need to use an https URL to reach the plugin library.

Best wishes

Jeremy

This is from https://tiddlywiki.com - I went to the plugin tab on the control panel tid, and pressed the 'get more plugins' button

Hi BJ

That makes sense. The old v5.1.14 deployment at https://tiddlywiki.com/ is still points to the http:// plugin library; I’ll release v5.1.15 shortly, but in the meantime you can try it out at: https://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease

Best wishes

Jeremy,

I have not mastered GitHub, and as not sure how to suggest updates. I wanted to ask for the ability to paste a color code in the color picker (Dialogue). So Often I capture colour or select it from  an external  pallet or color scheme. Since the picker takes over the color field this would allow manual entry for color changes.

I understand I may have missed the boat, but want to ensure it is considered for the next one at least.

PS I am looking forward to some of the new version changes.

Thanks a lot.

Tony
