Hello,

Thanks in advance for taking time to read through and answering these questions.

1.  I have been using TiddlyWiki as an offline wiki, from my USB drive for nearly a decade now (wow! time flies!!).  Thank you, Jeremy and Eirc Shulman, among others!  I would like to move to using TiddlyDesktop instead of Firefox browser.  Is it guaranteed that ALL of my plugins and macros will continue to work as they do now?  Or, are there any limitations that I should be aware of?  In particuarly, I rely heavily on Dave Gifford's Tabs plugin where each new tiddler opens in a new tab.  It is very important for me that continue to work seamlessly.

2.  TiddlyDesktop is fully offline i.e. it cannot connect to Internet and act as a browser - correct?

3.  Do all HTML files that render without error in mainstream browsers like Firefox/Chrome/... continue to render and function the same way in Tiddly Desktop?  In particualr, I use one offline application very frequently that uses Javascript, written using AngularJS and some other technology and works fine with Firefox.  Is it reasonable to expect that would work likewise in TiddlyDesktop as well?

Thank you for your time.

Cheers; 'best,
shankar

TiddlyDesktop (TD) info states, that it is compatible with TiddlyWikiClassic. see: http://tiddlywiki.com/#TiddlyDesktop
So if it doesn't work, you probably found a bug and should report it. ..... but .....

Do you have an overview about your TWc versions. ... <<version>> macro tells you the version number. ... TD uses a similar save mechanism than TiddlyFox for FireFox. ... So if all of your TWs save fine with the latest FF version it should also be ok with TD.

TD uses the same web view, than Chromium browser. So it has access to the internet and it can act as a browser. But it should be possible, to disable internet connection.

3.  Do all HTML files that render without error in mainstream browsers like Firefox/Chrome/... continue to render and function the same way in Tiddly Desktop?

There should be no problem with TW files. Chromium browser is the open source version of Chrome.

Interesting question. Jeremy?

Hi Shankar

In particualr, I use one offline application very frequently that uses Javascript, written using AngularJS and some other technology and works fine with Firefox.  Is it reasonable to expect that would work likewise in TiddlyDesktop as well?

Interesting question. Jeremy?

Assuming the app is a single HTML file that can be used on a file:// URI, I'd expect it to work.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

I can now confirm that I have used TiddlyDesktop extensively with TWC for several months and so far have not seen any issues with some very complicated, convoluted JavaScript running.

Thanks!
