Folks,

Recent exploration of this suggests if we could rename fields yet retain their value, and handle prefixes much could be achived

eg The "menu tiddler" http://127.0.0.1:8088/Local-Instances/Development/MyMenus.html#MySearch

Uses a prefix to identify fields, then uses a macro to extract the suffix of a field.

This can be used to encode fields with more information than just their name and value

I use the field name to sort the fields as they display (default behaviour), however I imagine there is also a hidden (physical) sort order, that would be nice to drag and drop to customise field order and thus the way they may appear in forms.

I do this a lot, Tony.  Works well.

I do this too.  A field (or Tiddler text) is used to store what I call the "sequence".  The field names are repeated there in the order they are to be displayed.  Also, if a particular member of the set is not mentioned in the sequence, it is not displayed (which is also useful).

I thought of doing this too and possibly will on your suggestion but it would be nice to tap into the native order of fields or develop an equivalent of the list field (for tag order) but for field order.
