In another thread about node.js

I read about a problem of having multiple versions of the same tiddler-file, the first one .tid, the next .tid.tid, the third .tid.tid.tid etc. I'm having that problem, along with (1) the appearance (or I suppose I should say non-disappearance) of draft versions of multiple tiddlers, and just now (2) opening a TW and not seeing any of my recent tiddlers, even though they were there as files in the folder. (Quitting and restarting solved that last problem).

Based on the other thread, it seemed the issue was resolved, but I didn't follow everything that was said.

I'm running OSX10.2.2, and TW 5.1.13. Any suggestions about what to do would be appreciated. No disasters so far, but it's making me nervous.

Thanks,

Andrew

So, I found this page:

which tells me where I can get node.js for the initial install, and how I can update npm, but doesn't say anything about how to update node.js

You might wonder why I'm using node.js if I don't understand all of this stuff. The answer is that I like having a separate file for each tiddler so that (a) I can apply tags to tiddler-files and have direct access to all tiddlers from outside TW via my tag-based file system (I don't want to have to do the same search / browse multiple times, once for file system, once for TW), and (b) the tiddlers are accessible from any device (since they are individual text files sitting in a Dropbox folder).

Hi Andrew,
Have you heard of Homebrew? It's a great utility for installing and automatically updating programs on a Mac. If you can remove your existing version of Node, Homebrew would install it for you and help you keep it updated very easily.

For reference, I am running my TiddlyWiki under Node.js version 4.4.7.

Thanks I think i've got it working using homebrew. Uninstalled node.js, then installed with homebrew.

Good! Please report back, if it solved the problem.

Andrew, I'm curious - what tag-based file system are you using?

I'm on a mac, and I just use OS X's tags. There is a program called LEAP that helps keep them organized. The main thing is to tag everything as its created, then to clean house once in a while.
