Background. I have been privately working a lot with Wiki's that are "enabled" to interface with the O/S and interactively working with external programs.

The best known are ...

-- Any Firefox run TW using Timimi plugin

-- Any TW run under Bob or Bob.exe

-- TiddlyDesktop (limited to launching O/S tools via shell files)

I think a GENERIC NAME for these faculties could be useful.

Interaction with O/S is extremely helpful for making wiki, for getting content together.
For preparing materials.
Being able to automate this makes many more things viable that otherwise would not be.

To name this aspect of actual abilities available I think will help lift it/them out of obscurity.

Any thoughts?

TT,

If it helps I think of this method as;
  • Desktop interactive/Integrated/interaction
  • OS Integration
  • TW as a launcher
  • Locally interactive
  • Integrated with your desktop
  • With local access
  • Outside browser limitations

I am not sure about the TiddlyDesktop limitations you mention, perhaps give me more details so I may help.

Regards
Tony

Ciao Tony

As far as I understand TiddlyDesktop you can do things like launch a batch file.
But I don't think you can pass it parameters in the way you can in Timimi & Bob?

Yes?
