how do I comment inside a macro

When I'm playing with macros, I find it quite mind bending following references all over the place, so I want to start entering my own comments about how things are working.

How do I do this?

I can't find anything searching for the phrase "comment" here or on tiddlywiki.com

I thought it was something like this

\%comment%\ (played with variations, but everything is showing up in the tiddler when I go to view mode)

You can add HTML comments at the end of your macro tiddlers.

You can show them in view mode using my extract macro and a conditional view template, if you want. See https://tid.li/tw5/hacks.html#Extract%20Macro
