[EDIT: APPARENTLY THIS DOESN'T WORK IN FF AND POSSIBLY OTHER BROWSERS. IT DOES WORK IN CHROME FOR ME.]

After having very recently discovered the term Personal Knowledge Base, (yes, surprising considering how this is probably THE most appropriate "term" for describing TW - much better than "notebook" IMO), I just now stumbled over this fascinating UI for one (atypical!) such;

Wow! ...to say the least. While I assume whole the UI isn't everyone's cup 'o tea, the accessibility to the content is very impressive.

Some perhaps easy-to-miss bits;

The lines illustrate category unisons,

The seeming "headlines" reading "OR filter" are really buttons to toggle filter logic.

I''m guessing the left-lower thing is a time line (with adjustable span).

I get a blank screen when I try to open it in Pale Moon or Firefox. I guess it is very clean ...

Regarding TW, it is SO flexible that it gets overlooked in listings like http://tinyurl.com/hpztq2e. If you take those exemplars, different implementations of TW are able to do most of what they only individually can.

The PROMOTION of TW is one of its WORST failings IMO.

FYI, for years I have used TheBrain WITH TW  (using TheBrain's ability to open applications & pages). TheBrain gives me a visual overview. The TWs the data precisely organized.

I can confirm I get blank in FF too. It works in Chrome. Guess not everything is impressive about that page.

I been thinking that whilst I try get better at TW I will do a Twitter channel commenting on it, since Twitter I know how to do well. Small steps that fit are ways to go IMO---when you have no budget & only volunteers.

Hi Mat,

I thought you were joking, spreading white noise to my aging brain.

Now talking about promoting TW, are you planning to update twaddle soon, I am addicted.

That's good to hear. I think it's worth considering how much joy and value TW brings to one self and that it therefore is a good deed to tell others about TW. This is also beneficial for the TW project itself. Bigger community <====> Better TW.

FYI, on an ancient Explorer for that I get: "Your browser does not have support for Canvas."

In other words its Chrome built & never been tested properly across browsers.

Thanks Birthe, that's very flattering.

The TWaddle situation is a bit embarassing; I've actually kept on writing posts... actually a lot(!) but only some make it to "ready-for-publish" (also quite a few by now)... BUT those are still not published because the updating procedure is too much hassle;

I do my editing in a super secret admin TWaddle (also on tiddlyspot). The admin version doesn't only contain unpublished articles but also admin tools and a different layout etc. There is unfortunately currently no way to directly save a filtered version of a tiddlyspot to another tiddlyspot, i.e a filtrered admin version to the public tiddlyspot. If that worked, I'd publish all the time.

Instead what I'm forced to do is to save a filtered version to a local file. Then upload this file to the public TWaddle site. But there is always the need to check that I don't accidentaly save to the wrong place and that it worked out, or I forgot to set the password so there was yet another copy saved locally, etc etc. And if I made a mistake I might have to redo it all. So it's just IFFY and no fun. So I write... for the black cyberspace.

I have attempted to bring this need to attention (in more general terms, not just about my case) e.g #1755 and here - please do chime in. If it was solved it would make tiddlyspot suitable for, well, blogs in the more powerful sense.

It does NOT work on the Internet  well, so there is no way it will work with TW5.

Mr Mat wasn't clear when he started this thread that its essentially Chrome specific. Everything that TW5 isn't.

It's not clear what you mean with "work" - but, regardless, that site is just an external, totally different site. As far as I know it's not a commercial software (or is it?).

I understood it as a joke. Something like: "This new electric car is cool, and works without gassoline which is the only thing thats gives sense to its existence, but, how can I make it work with gassoline?"

@Danielo - this thread has gone totally bananas so I'm not sure what anyone is saying anymore. But I can sincerely say that I'm glad to see you on the boards again!

Very interesting, Mat - thanks for sharing.

I looked and failed to find anything 'expensive' about it and the fact that it doesn't work on Firefox at the moment would appear to be a bug.

The guy who made it has his own company - http://moebio.com/
His software is released open source - http://moebiolabs.github.io/moebio_framework/

"Moebio Framework is designed for modern browsers. Including recent versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari."

His 'personal knowledge base' uses a variety of this visualisation - http://moebio.com/research/sevensets/ along with other effects,
his bookmarks are organised here - http://del.icio.us/moebio. Perhaps he is inadvertently using an older version of his own libraries which is broken on Firefox.

Anyhow, I'm sure it's *theoretically* possible to use this to visualise Tiddlers.

Thanks again, Mat.

Regards,
Richard

seHi Richard,

True knowledge is to know how to find out! Thank you.

So many examples to look at. I was able to view the examples dated after 2012 in Firefox. Maybe I do not understand but would it not be very time consuming to use that leaving less time to collect knowledge?

This seems like an interesting idea, but I think that it is way too cluttered to be useful. I really like it as a conceptual demo or an art project though. Maybe if we try rotation or zooming to give a visual metaphor for the space, since I think he has something like 27 dimensions there (Art, Interface, Science, etc. and then project, wikipedia, etc. and the time line on top of that). I think a better presentation would be projecting only the subspace defined by the filters onto two dimensions instead of always projecting the entire space but only showing the points that fit the filters.

The zoom lens thing is very visually confusing for me but I think that with a bit of tweaking it could be an interesting way of displaying relationships between different data sources.
