A sticky post, not stricky posts, bur one sticky post for links to certain, select few threads that shouldn't get lost in backscroll like posts from Luis and Watt about efforts to coordinate Group members.

another thng-- a note to posters, that if their post-- especially if its one with a question or pressing problem-- is not respnded to -- to post a dummy response like "still seeking help" to bump there post back into the top of the page so their post doesn't get lost in backscroll and never answered (otherwise that person could drop TW out of frustration),  I had a post or two I never got an answer to and the only reason it wasn't an issue for me is my stubbornness to figure it out myself)

Ciao Gloom

The problem is maintenance. The problem is who chooses. The problem is do they have time to form an overview.

Pinning is an admin's fnc. here I think?

And GG doesn't support alternative easier methods (like upvoting) that could auto-support this.

My impression is that folk who have time and energy and interest could do regular update summary lists.

Someone who does do that, to an extent, is Mohammad for his updates to several great resouce wiki.
But even he hasn't given a simple list of all the useful resources in one consolidated post yet.

I'd say what you suggest is "a good one" BUT the actual way GG works (onward-flow, terrible memory) would mean you'd have to work a lot to do it and maintain it.

Thoughts ...

Gloom, further ...

One thing to note is that secondary posters (like me replying here) can ADD tags (I just added the "question" tag) to this thread.

It would be possible for any web user to flag certain threads with a tag and provide a click to display only those ...

Its a bit esoteric. You'd need educate people on usage. But with self-discipline (i.e. some thought before doing it so you don't end up with too many threads included) might help.
One would need ask Jeremy to add appropriate tags like "sticky" or "keep" or "notable" etc.

I now see its possible to combine tags in a search ...

Search syntax: tag:css AND tag:question

Expanding your idea lets pretend tags exist for ...

tag:docs AND tag:sticky

That might be precise enough not to get swamped in results?

Gloom, furthur to furthur to furthur ...

I was, and somewhat remain, skeptical about the value of tagging since its voluntary on first post (i.e. thread creator does not have to add any).

And its not used so well. Its very patchy.

Also often its not fully clear on first post exactly the import of the thread.

But since others can add tags it might be a way around some of the GG limits.
Though that requires understanding of the issue.

Also people doing GG only through email can't do it. They would have to visit the web.

That said:  post-hoc assignment of tags  looks like it might be a possible useful approach towards a sort of pragmatic semi-sticky. ??

Just thoughts

If tag sticky and tag docs is materialized, i will collect those links in a wiki page in reddit.

@Riz

Good idea, I'll see about tagging my posts but i'm so far behind with the posts I wouldn't be able to tag others

@TT

I need to stop smiling before I respond : ) I think you covered the issue very well-- wow : )  I see and understand most of what you bring up.

I had thought of all the complications when I posted, but I hate to see Luis and Watt abandon their efforts (even tho I really can't help) like others cause what they're working on gets forgotten or overlooked

and many thanks you gave me the query code for adding tag search to the Google Groups search for the References Collective : D

Not clear it would happen. Users would need to know to add tags for such cases.

ONE thing is clear is that tagging (MORE than one tag!) is the closest GG gets to structured search retrieval there is---as far as I can see.

Ciao Riz!

See, we don't have to do it in real time. We can check once in a week. Others also can tag the posts meanwhile. I would love it if people themselves took time to do that.

Another thing i had in mind was a GitHub repo called "Awesome Tiddlywiki5". So that multiple people can do pull requests.
