I have a few tiddlers I'd like to display in a different way to normal - in particular I'd like to change what's displayed in place of the title, according to the contents of a separate config tiddler.

I have a feeling once upon a time I used a custom ViewTemplate to achieve this sort of thing but I really can't remember how. The page "Page and tiddler layout customisation" from tiddlywiki.com definitely implies this is possible but doesn't go into any specifics!

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks for your response, but that page looks like it's about applying styles CSS. I actually want to change the content being displayed - I don't think this is possible using CSS alone (but I'm no expert).

Can custom styles really achieve what I'm after - namely substitution of the text which is displayed in place of the tiddler's title?

See Eric Shulman's post about substituting "caption" for "title":

You should be able to apply the same principle for your special field(s).
