Hi all

I used TiddlyWiki to create this 196 page book in Spanish as a static html. https://giffmex.org/html/nt1.html. It is the course packet for one of my classes.

1. The table of contents links
<a class="tc-tiddlylink" href="#1.1">1.1. Title...</a>
lead to anchors
<a name="#1.1"></a>
which I entered manually.

2. Each section is a transcluded tiddler with the title entered manually above it.

3. The titles are preceded by a page break for printing <p style="page-break-after: always;">&nbsp;</p> and the anchor, and followed by a link back to the table of contents <a href="#toc"><span class="tiny">{{$:/core/images/home-button}}</span></a>

Looks cluttered on editing, but navigating back and forth from toc to section and back to toc is smooth. Very light at 616kb. And each section can be printed separately from the browser.

Page #s are for mainly for me, since I will print it for students who would prefer a printed version. Page #s correspond to printing on Firefox at 90%.

Not automated, and not an e-book, but I share it just to show it can be done. Blessings.

Very cool thanks for sharing.  Did you use a specific theme or manipulate system tiddlers to get rid of sidebars and editing icons?

Also, really looking foward making use of stroll it looks very useful for note taking.

I am interested in the size as well.  An empty Stroll is like 2.6mb so I am guessing you stripped out most of the system tiddlers?

Hi digit

1) no, the export to html results in a stripped down file, so I didn't have to do anything special.
2) To hide the sidebar I just used the icon in the top right corner
3) The export to html also gets rid of the editing icons.

Ciao David

Nice one! Navigation is easy.

Just FYI, on my Android default font size is a bit small in portrait, though improves in landscape.

David,

Thanks for sharing a real life example.

A Quick shareback is if you use the horizontal rule "---" or in HTML `<hr>` which you do a lot, you may want to use a variation of it
<hr style="width: 50%;">

Which can improve readability, or delineate differently a change in section with a change in subsection

Tony

Thanks TT and TW T!

Yes, I am actually working on weeding out the hr's and using headers, bullets and indents to differentiate sections. Thanks!

David,

I just reviewed your book again, Since I do not speak Spanish I applied the google translator to English. It seems to translate very well, perhaps you would know if its good or not with your familiarity with the content and both languages.

Of interest is how it actually changes visible links to English while keeping the correct tiddler link.

I wonder if the translations are better because such passages are available around the world in different languages?

Tony

TW Tones,

As I do not know Spanish I wouldn't know, but trying google translate into Danish worked better than earlier but still I had quite some laughs at places. The writing about wrinkles sounded more like an advertisement for a beauty product really.
I think your experience was so good because you needed translation into English - big language, you know.
To be honest I think I understood more guestimating the Spanish, than from the Danish translation LOL.
