Hello everyone,

I upgraded TiddlyServer to TiddlyWiki 5.1.15 and fixed the filename that was causing trouble on case-sensitive file systems.

Enjoy!

Hi Arlen

I'm still using TS to great success - running rock solid since Nov 3 with multiple TWs open (now that etags are disabled).  Excellent.

So, if I want to upgrade to 2.0.10, what the best way to do that (I'm not clear on the upgrade workflow).

Thanks!

Unzip the new version next to the old version (so you have a separate folder for each version), then copy the settings.json from the old one to the new one. Once you're satisfied that the new one is working you can delete the old one.

Thanks Arlen.

I don't suppose you could make that a little more difficult could you?  That's far, far too easy ;)

Great, glad to know it's easy. I actually forget that people might expect it to be more complicated and so I constantly have to be asked how to upgrade :)

Arlen,

That is great thanks, A much more stable environment today since the upgrade.

I was investigating packaging TiddlyServer in a PortableApps.com package (windows at least), If this was done including some additional support for editing the settings.json TiddlyServer would be so easy to install there would be almost no barrier to adoption.

Please let me know your view on this?

Thanks Again

Brilliant idea.

PortableApps are very widely used. Doing it that way lessens hassle enormously because users will normally know the procedure already. I'm interested to hear if it works out.

Best wishes

Josiah et all,

I started building a Portable-app as a experiment, pending Arlens response, and it was not as straight forward as I hoped, I will continue to look at it.

On one hand, The only barrier I see to simplification is the settings.json file, it is fiddly, easy to make errors and appears hard to "Generalise".

On the other hand since this is clearly about TiddlyWiki I think their may be an opportunity to generate the settings.json file from tiddlywiki, after the user provides the location details etc...

Issues on windows include identifying the users selected tiddlywiki location(s) and populating the settings file to look there.

Any ideas appreciated.

Ste,

Would you know how?

One thing that might help you is you can specify the settings.json file path as an argument "node server.js /path/to/settings.json". Also, a settings interface is on the roadmap, but I'm not sure how soon.
