Hi all

One thing that really bothers me is that there doesn't seem to be a way to disitnguish between regular tiddlers and system tiddlers when importing.

There are times when I want to import only the system tiddlers, or only the non-system tiddlers.

Is there a way, as a plug in or as a request for changes to the core, to put two check boxes on the import dialogue, one that toggles system tiddlers, and one that toggles non-system tiddlers?

I am going to try the Fetch Tiddlers plugin, but the above solution would still be a real advance for importing in TW.

Rather than system vs non-system, a filter run that let's you specify any type of criteria would be useful. You might want to import
only items with certain tags, for instance.

At the moment, the easiest way to achieve your goal is to use the advanced search filter dialog to export just the
tiddlers you want to import.

On FF, after you export, you click on the blue down arrow at the top to find and open the directory that has your exported json. The exported tiddlers will be highlighted. This makes it easy to grab the file, drag it, and drop back into the TW where it is needed. I guess what I'm saying is that the filter-before-export approach is pretty fast. Not everyone knows how convenient the download manager is. Beg your pardon if you already knew all this.

Oh wow Mark, I had no idea about that! A very well-hidden feature of TW. I just did that and it worked like a charm!

David

Marks focus on control in the export rather than in the import is the best approach if you can fine tune the export.

If you do not control the content and you are importing, a filter on import would be helpful. I am working on this at the moment so just ask if you need more.

However down loading empty.html importing a json and exporting selected content is a simple workflow.

Tony

Thanks Tony, yes, this worked well and is an easy workflow as you mentioned. It just seems strange that an export tool is buried in the advanced search. I use advanced search regularly and my eye must have tuned it out.
