Drag and drop import of images from the web without downloading it first?

Is it possible to import images directly from a website, without having to download said image first? Currently it just imports a link, I can't seem to get it to download the image without manually downloading it first and then importing it through my local file.

I don't think this is currently possible. I think that limitations on browser access to the file system make it difficult to implement and may require making a browser plugin or something like that.
