I have a strange problem.

I've downloaded and saved a copy of tiddlywiki.com which I run
stand-alone I also have a node version of TW5 running.

If I search for things in the stand-alone version I find them. The same
search in the node version does not find them - but they are present
only the way to find them is not so good.

Here's an example:

1) In the stand alone version

I reload then click on Contents then "Customise TiddlyWiki"

A tiddler is opened with a list of customisations

2) In the node version

I restart then click on Contents then "Customise TiddlyWiki" (ie same as before)

This time the opened tiddler is *empty* (ie there is no list of customisations)

BUT the tiddlers customisation are there.

If I do an advanced search - shadow tab - and search for "hidden
settings" it shows up so I can read the "hidden settings" tiddler -
and it has a tab "Customise TiddlyWiki" and the list of topics shows
up here.

Another very strange thing

<<tag "Customise TiddlyWiki">>

makes a button with a drop down menu of tiddlers

but

<<list-links "[tag[Customise TiddlyWiki]]">>

shows nothing

very strange -- how come one finds the tiddlers the other doesn't -- I'd expected both
to deliver the same results

any ideas what's wrong?

/Joe

Joe,

Customise TiddlyWiki is part of the content on tiddlyWiki.com, it has the TableOfContents tag which makes it appear in the Contents Tab. Thus is is not part of downloading an empty.html and the tiddlers you seem to be looking for are not in empty.html.

On the tiddlywiki.com there are additional tiddlers and documentation which is not in the empty.html. For example On tiddlywiki.com under Contents > Customise TiddlyWiki  "then select" > "Adding a table of contents to the sidebar,"
and note this is tagged with "Customise TiddlyWiki",  Perhaps follow the instructions there to build a TableOfContents on your new wiki.

I can see you have some skill but are confused by what your are seeing in tiddlywiki. If you want to have a 15 - 30 minute over the internet conversation to orient yourself with tiddlywiki perhaps using Team Viewer, I would be happy to do so.

Regards
Tony

PS

The Correct usage of List-Links macro is below and documented here https://tiddlywiki.com/#list-links%20Macro

<<list-links filter:"[tag[Customise TiddlyWiki]]">>

Also, On my own key TiddlyWiki  the tiddler "Customise TiddlyWiki" does not exist, however it is a tag on a tiddler
"Adding a table of contents to the sidebar"
I must have dragged into my Wiki from tiddlywiki.com at some point.

Using the above list-links, the tiddler so tagged will be listed.

I think you are tripping over yourself a little, I recommend you consider my Offer of an Orientation session or simply teach yourself by reading as much of tiddlywiki.com and listed resources as possible.

Regards
Tony

Not for me though

I still get two different results

<<tag "Customise TiddlyWiki">>

and

<<list-links filter:"[tag[Customise TiddlyWiki]]">>

the former produces a popup when clicked with 13 entries -
the latter zero.

The principle of "least astonishment" leads me to hope that they might be the same.

The reason I omitted the 'filter:' was because I was following the example in

This reference

says "a parameter can be labelled" not "must be"

I'm definitely tripping over - though every time I try something it gets a lot easier.

I make take you up on your kind offer of a bit of orientation - though this will have to wait
- I'm on a trip at the moment and rather busy at the moment.

I also like asking questions here - it clarifies my thoughts writing things down
and has the advantage that the results will be  there for people to read
in the future.

Cheers

Hi Joe

There seem to be two problems here: an inconsistency between the Node.js configuration and the standalone configuration, and an inconsistency between the two ways of listing the tiddlers with a tag.

With respect to the latter, I couldn't duplicate the problem. Pasting the following into a new tiddler on tiddlywiki.com works as expected:

<<list-links filter:"[tag[Customise TiddlyWiki]]">>

<<tag "Customise TiddlyWiki">>

The inconsistency between Node.js and the standalone configuration might be explained by differences between the two wikis?

Best wishes

Jeremy
