Saves to Tiddlyspot seem to be either broken / doing something 'funky'; Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have been (very) slowly splitting the site http://softwareutilities.tiddlyspot.com/ into the tw5 versions http://mysoftwareutilities.tiddlyspot.com/ (Eventually to overwrite the original) and http://mygames.tiddlyspot.com/ (Because having them together really wasn't working for me). As of July, they were working fine, but my attempt to add a new entry to mysoftwareutilities 'Syncthing' wasn't updating - Firefox tries to save the page locally until I manually add the password and then it *acts* like it's saving but the red checkmark never clears out and clearing cache/refreshing shows tiddlyspot hasn't actually updated.

Until today when I opened it up and it shows a new entry as of yesterday?

So today I cloned Syncthing to add 'Bittorrent Sync', saved - same thing as yesterday. Different computer so I try it in Chrome - same results.

So hopefully tomorrow I will have an entry for Bittorrent Sync, but one save per day is not really workable for me.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be happening here?

Hi Jonnan,

Looking at your http://mysoftwareutilities.tiddlyspot.com/ I seems you saved Syncthing 18 hours ago and Bittorrent Sync 23 minutes ago.

Ack - I think I managed to hit 'Reply privately' (Scares me when my updates here suddenly don't show up either).

But yeah, my update to tiddlyspot was about 15 minutes before I posted here and still seems to have updated about five minutes after that - so it's going through, but something is 'goofy'.

Just as a check I moved 'Universe Sandbox' over to the new wiki and deleted/saved changes to the old one - the old Wiki saved immediately - the new one took about five minutes to update, which (to my laymen point of view) indicates there's something different between the wiki's that's at issue as opposed to being on my end or Tiddly spots end? It's worht noting that I *am* on a bad DSL connection; thru-put is good, but latency is happy to hit the hundreds of milliseconds on a regular basis - My mental model is that something in Firefox/Chrome changed but is there a possibility that something in tw5 is more affected by that than the original? Although my lousy latency goes back years and is not a recent development and I don't recall having this issue before.

Hi Jonnan,

I do not think your TW is the problem. Why? have a look here: http://softutil-test.tiddlyspot.com/#Test

It is really mysterius.

It must be my DSL then. Frustrating as my local phone company's motto is "We're a monopoly and we like it that way".

Hi,

After you did a save, you can try to do a <shift> page reload. So the browser doesn't use the local cache. I had this problem several times with FF.

Hi Johann,

Anyone have a clue as to what might be happening here?

I think your browser (chrome) might be slow on getting rid of a cached site.
Same happens when I push updates to github pages.

Sometimes it takes a while for either github or chrome
to give me an updated page in the browser, SHIFT+F5 or not.

There's a neat trick to force your browser
to drop the cache and open up a new one:

http://tiddlywiki.com?1

Notice that fake parameter behind the ? ...can be anything.

In case of a TiddlyWiki link, you'll add it before the hash...

http://tiddlywiki.com?1#SetWidget

This should either force the server or the browser
or both to give you the most recent version.

I have put that note here:

...and while I did that, and reworded the initial post once more, it happened. ;-)

Best wishes,
