Is there a way to just expand the macros in a tiddler?

Is there a way to expand JUST the macros in a piece of tiddler text?

I want to be able to create a new tiddler from a template, and have it expand any macros but otherwise bring across all the rest of the markdown formatting unchanged.

I feel this should be relatively easy, but it's not clear how. Experiments with wikify have gotten close but are not quite there.

This is what I have so far:
