Apropos the discussion if the new "diff" feature should be a separate plugin or baked into core...

Imagine if the UI to add plugins was really smooth.

Need a feature? - just toggle a button, wherever you're standing e.g in a tiddlers edit view.
Only needed it at that moment? Just untoggle and it is not part of your TW anymore.

Insta-feature. Tool-on-demand. Use-'n-drop.

Or keep. Depending on the nature of the plugin.

Plugins integrated into the workflow rather than the TW.

Im still dreaming of plugins that can tell you if they need to be updated, let alone let you update them by pressing an update button!

What is THAT plugin? And WHERE do I find it?

Hi Ma

I think this would be good too... toggle and all links would open in edit mode

Ciao Mat

I wanted to come back to this on basis of THIS thought cycle of yours ...

Mat: ... Insta-feature. Tool-on-demand. Use-'n-drop ...

I think the biggest issue we have with TW plugins is #FINDABILITY.

Your great vision of "Tool-on-demand" would require some better method for aggregating tools (or their addresses) into ONE place?? Right??

By way of example, one of the reasons #TinyMCE (a JavaScript #WYSIWYG editor) is successful is because you can BUILD-YOUR-OWN version. The main site enables you to generate a custom version by click-addition of "plugins": https://www.tinymce.com/download/custom-builds/.

The broad idea looks like a viable model for TW too??

Best wishes
