So Tekkan is a standalone version of the Tekan plugin for TW5. This comes with a lot of new features, viz:

* Cards now fully support markdown
* Multi-line cards
* Add due date and labels to cards. Sort cards in a list by due date and labels.
* Scroll Y: Those who do not want to scroll to right, can switch to "scroll downward" mode using options given in sidebar.
* Each board can have its own colors
* You can add custom color palettes.
* Create lists with custom filters
* Ability to expand by adding custom buttons, custom sort formats etc.

Demo: https://ibnishak.github.io/Tekkan/Tekkan%20Demo.html

Documentation and Download: https://ibnishak.github.io/Tekkan/

The project uses markdown plugin from TW5, make plugin by Tobias Beer, and pickaday plugin by Kixam

Ciao Riz

Small design suggestions to make it BETTER than Trello ...

1 - Move the displayed Board Name up to take over the "Board" button. Let the Board button be both the display of the current board name AND the mechanism to change it. On HOVER ... "Change Board". On CLICK the dropdown of choices ...

2 - Move "Open Sidebar" up to the top line. It makes no sense where it is. And just use the "doubled arrow" as normal.

Just thoughts.
Best wishes
Josiah

Hello Riz,
I loved the button to switch between the TekanMode and TW... without that, it is no alternative to your existing version.

Hi Josiah,

I find the "Board"-button more intuitive as it is now...

Hi Riz,

This is some really hot user interface

I am not familiar with Kanban

But I think can use Tekan to process ideas, treating ideas like a raw material, and the processing them along the production chain

Josiah. I actually considered those ideas when I was setting it up. In the end I thought, let people have what they are already familiar with, and if things catch on, we can take the pulse and make necessary changes.

Hi Jan.

I understand that. I have kept the plugin as it is, this is not an alternative to that, but catering a different user base. My idea is, if you guys can give me your feedback, and wrinkles can be ironed out and if possible, present it to people outside the TW community after prepackaging it with Tiddlyserver., thus introducing them to TW.

Beyond that, it is to be noted that plugin version had some limitations. I needed to consider all possible things people would be using their TW5 and not interfere with that. I would have to either bundle the plugins and then user would have to have three plugins in his TW5 on and over the plugins he already uses and so on.

However, that being said, I like the plugin part o Tekkan project too. It helps to convert my existing TWs by making Table of contents as a board. So I am not letting that go. Consider this a new fork.

sincerely

Thanks Pit!!

That is pretty much what Kanban is. Use as you deem fit and let me know if you got any suggestions.

I do understand. But the problem is that "later" you have already created legacy you have to deal with so change becomes progressively more weighty.

IMO: do your new shot FIRST :-).

Yeahhmm... maybe.... I will be travelling next week, gives me time to think...

Lets  agree that Riz did a great work there? I am already testing my personal use case for it

... and I have NO idea where the functionality and the GUI come from.
No plugin, no $:/tiddlers, ... no nothing.
Where is it hidden? Is it magic? An Easter Egg? Do I need to rub an ancient oil lamp to make a genie appear?

Hehe. I just removed all the PageTemplates so that I can start with a blank slate. This is what I have been doing lately. Essentially all the GUI tiddlers are there, but the interface we are familiar with to interact with them isn't.

I will show you another example of this idea. https://ibnishak.github.io/twstuff/ . That web page is actually a tiddlywiki. You want to see the underlying TW? Drop down to the bottom of the page and click on the footer that says "Valar Morghulis". PS: It is under construction, obviously.

Thanks Riz,

removed all the PageTemplates so that I can start with a blank slate

So, that is how the cookie crumbles --- thats really a new insight for me.

... and ...

click on the footer that says "Valar Morghulis"

that sounds like Mendax clicking NASA

;)

Riz,

So what you are saying is that you've removed all the tiddlers tagged to appear in the page template then created a new tiddler using new CSS along with TiddlyWiki widgets?

I didn't remove them, well I can't given that they are shadow tiddlers. I untagged them. Then I added page-template tag to one of my tiddlers and wrote css so that it would consume the whole screen. In that tiddler I transcluded the rest of the parts of Tekkan. Ideally I could have just added pagetemplate tags to all the parts individually, but I found it easier to have a non shadow tiddler as my base so that if I had to rename it or something, it won't be immediately taken over by the shadow tiddler.

I did it primarily because I didn't want to write a bunch of extra CSS to hide sidebar, then override the existing rules in vanilla theme for story-river, tiddler frame, and all other stuff. It is easier to start with a blank slate.

sincerely,
Riz

Morning Riz .. was working with the plugin for awhile but have now started using your standalone version. I can't seem to get into TW mode with the standalone, am I missing something?

Hi

Standalone version do not have a TW mode. I made it simply to be used as a Kanban.

PS: If you are just starting out and have not committed much time into it, you are better off with Reid Gould's Dropboard TW as I have shifted away from working on TW due to issues. Dropboard is expected to have more regular updates and fixes.

Have a great day.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I've been using GSD5 for years and decided on a change. I want to import all the open actions from GSD5 to the Tekan One but when I do they don't appear anywhere on the board. That's why I was going to try and go into the back and sort it out. I've read all notes that can be found [if you google various versions of Tekan TW5] but can't seem to find a way. Would you have any advice on how I could import the tiddlers?

My general advice would be not to use it, it is an abandoned project.

Standalone version creates its own titles using unique ID macro. That is why it is incompatible with the imported Tiddlers.

It would be great, if you could post this in your GitHub Project! I just got to know Tekan and Tekkan, and like it very much. Now I read, it is an abandoned project... I would not have started bringing my open actions into it if I had known about this :-(
I will have a look at Dropboard now.

Nevertheless: very sad, that it wont be continued! You did a great job!!

@Alex. I sincerely apologise for the inconvienience caused. I admit the lack of a warning on github readme was an oversight on my part. I will try to update as soon as I get a chance. The code is open, it has no licence restrictions other than that of the parent product- TW5 which is bound by BSD. So if you are interested, you can fork out and use it as you please. Last tim I checked, there was one or two minor css bugs (which will not affect functionality of the app, rather the styling) and were easily rectifiable.
