Hi folks

I am new to Tiddler and I do not know if I am posting this on the right group. Correct me if I am wrong.

That's the name of the Project / Wiki.

There are 2 version. TiddlyWikiClassic and TiddlyWiki5

I think we need to back up a little first; TiddlyWiki is the general framewok or engine that you can use as-is or add additional plugins (etc) to or build your own stuff with. The link you provide is to the github code but to see it in action, better go to tiddlywiki.com:

That is a single tiddler and it is just an example of what you can build with native TW5. For you to get this, the easiest is to have two browser tabs open - one with that link and the other with your own TW. In the former, click "Open" in the sidebar so you see theh name "TaskManagementExample" listed. That is actually a draggable link! So, you can click and drag this into your TW in that other tab. As the tabs switch to your tab and you hover down you'll notice how there is a green "bar" appearing in your TW onto which you can drop the object, to have it imported.
That's basically it :-)

TiddlyWiki5

TiddlyWiki or TW is the name of the whole project, but typically also used sloppily to refer to instances, eg "My TW..."
Until a few years ago there was only one "main" version of TW, so TW referred to that version. Then Jeremy made a complete refactoring and released what he called TiddlyWiki5 (the 5 refers to HTML5... I think). The old one is nowadays referred to as TiddlyWikiClassic.

As stated, the former is probably just a single tiddler.
Searching for TidMarks on tiddlywiki.com leads to an instance of a TW made by a fellow community member (long timer Dave Gifford). So that is a full TW. But it is pretty old ;-)

Thank you both for your help. It seems much clearer now.

The explanation about how to import the features from the example to a new TiddlyWiki was very good as it described "how to do it". (Often forgotten.)

I think, I understand the structure now. The TiddlyWiki and tiddler are the 2 basic building blocks.

On both the properties can be modified in many way in order to make them behave as we want.
When modifying the TiddlyWiki the name is changed to give a hint about its function.

The TiddlyWiki is used for controlling the tiddlers.

Tiddlers are small notes of information that TiddlyWiki is using for composing lists or other functions.

I hope, I finaly got it right.

You're on the right track!

You wrote something that is conceptually very interesting and that makes me realize how easy it is to be "home blind" when one is used to something. You wrote:

Yes, when you go to tiddllywiki.com, the word "TiddlyWiki" you see there in big letters is merely the title of that particular TiddlyWiki5 instance. You change it to whatever you want just like you change the headline in a Word document. Sticking with the Word document analogy, there isn't really any visible place in TW where the brand TiddlyWiki is seen like it is for the wordprocessor "Word". The whole wiki is more comparable to the text document (it IS "just" a html page) and the equivalent to the Word software is rather the browser!

It had not occurred to me that one could mistake the title of the TW for being the full software but it is in deed a very reasonable assumption for newcomers!

I think we have misunderstood each other.
I do not mean that the Title is anything els but a Title that You can change to whatever you want, but I mean, that you are free to use i as a hint about the function you just built into the TiddlyWiki.

Is this right? or have I misunderstood the whole thing again.

Turns out I misunderstood you. Anyway, you do understand it right. I'm even confusing myself now. Case closed ;-)
