When one excises a section of a tiddler, the excised part is transferred to a new tiddler. Instead of that new tiddler being based on the standard new tiddler, is it possible to have it based on a customised template that gets cloned in the process?

Its possible though not too strait forward. You could clone the tiddler(s) involved in the excise button and customise them to your requirements. Basicaly make a new excise button.

Alternativly use a tag during the excise and use a tag on the new tiddler to present a custom view template that helps you change the tiddlers to your needs.

My self or others may be able to give a more detailed solution.

Hi Tony, thanks for jumping in :-)

I already have a customised tid that I keep cloning whenever I create a new tid in this particular TW file. So, I would like to use that same customised tid to be cloned during an Excise.

In fact, I don't need a new button because I would always want this template's lay-out. So, when I click on the button "perform excise" I want it to clone my customised tid.

How could I change the button's behaviour?

Yes you could edit the current one. Or make a new one and hide the original.

It may be a little complex. I will look at it and share back. I like the idea myself.

Unless someone else has done it already

Tony
