Merry Christmas everyone!

Here is something I cleaned up this morning while waiting for the family to wake up.

Bypass tags altogether! Move quickly up and down chains of ideas by treating links as if they were tags:

Use links to indicate parent categories of new tiddlers (taking advantage of comptext by snowgoon88)
Show/hide both parent category (a hidden link in the current tiddler)
Show/hide related categories (= backlinks to the current tiddler, listed in a viewtemplate tiddler)

Sounds like the family is up. Good timing. Back to Christmas!

Hi Dave,

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any place next to the up arrow to insert new items. The only way I see to add a "parent" is to put the link manually inside the "hidden"  text area.

Thanks!

Mark and Mohammad,

Yes, that is correct, editing for the parent links is done in edit mode, just as tags are. Manually insert parent topic links in the hideme span with the help of the comptext. I am curious to know what aspect about the layout acted as a cue to make both of you think that editing would be done in view mode.

The up and down arrows in view mode are to help you navigate 'up' to parent topics and 'down' to subtopics and related topics. The buttons are to hide / reveal the links. Reasons for hiding: you want to print / view the contents of the tiddler minus the links, or maybe your file is slowing down and you think hiding the list filter (may?) help with that.

This:

Create new tiddlers with the Up+ button in the sidebar, and add links to any parent categories right after the ↑ symbol.

It sounds like you can add links right after the UP symbol.

Ah, I should have written "next to the HTML code for the up arrow. Sorry!
