Dear All,

I noticed an unusual background behaviour while surfing from TW land on this site [1]

When scrolling down, the background image scrolls but at a different rate. There's something satisfying about it.

What's going on here? How would the technique look with tiddlers?

Hi Alex

The technique is called “parallax scrolling”. It’s normally done with JavaScript, but here is a pure CSS implementation that would be easy to integrate into TW:

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Jeremy et al,

I've had a play with this - see attached (its a tw with the css and html loaded into a copy or TiddlyWiki.com)

Its far from anything useful - its a just started experiment, with very little added value. I've attached it if anyone wants to play with it.

A curious glitch is that if you add the slide class and slide1 id to a page element, the background image zooms in when you open tiddlers from the sidebar. I'd know what kind of value this might be, but it could indicate hierarchy if combined with Felix's plugin which recognises tiddler in focus.

to be honest - its driven me half crazy!

best wishes

@Alex,

I'm not seeing any background images,
only that some content images are scrolling unfavorably.
Could you make one based off of empty.html
to show where you're headed?

Best wishes,
