Auto populated fields to Journal tiddler on create

Is there a method of modifying the Journal template such that when you create a new tiddler there are additional fields filled in?

Specifically three date fields with day, month and year.

Yes... investigate templates. I haven’t worked with journal entries, or else I’d provide examples.

What I do is make my own new journal macro and add a separate date field based on today or selected. You can add extra fields but I compute day of week etc.. From my extra date date field in a view template.
