I have been using TWC for years, and of late I see that none of my changes get saved.  I use Firefox 38.0.5 with the TiddlyFox extension 1.0.  Firefox has upgraded a few times since I started using TWC, but it is only of late that saving doesn't work.

I have been able to find no discussion of this on the group, and without the ability to save, TWC is becoming a real klunker!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Rob

Hi Rob

There are no known problems with the current release of TiddlyFox and version 38.0.5 of Firefox - it works OK for me, both under Windows and on the Mac.

Conceivably another addon is interfering with TiddlyFox. I'd suggest selectively disabling other addons to see if you can isolate the problem.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Hi, Jeremy.

I believe I owe you a 'thank you' for much (much!) more than answering my question.  As a former programmer myself, I see the genious in what you have created.  I wish I was more up to date in my programming skills (languages, really), because I have this urge to "sculpt" TW to suit my own tastes.  ;-)

Back to my original question (not auto- or manually saving), I have tried this particular TW file on several computers, and on several versions of FF and Chrome.  Using my residual programming knowledge, I downloaded "empty.htm" and made a simple edit to the GettingStarted tiddler, then manually saved it.  Then I compared "empty.htm" to the backup file and found that there are 9 added lines after line number 524.  Other than that, no differences, but my changes are not reflected when I reload the file.

So there is really some strange stuff going on here.  Could you suggest anything that would allow me to troubleshoot my problem?  (I can trace through code a little bit, still.)

Again, thank you on all counts, large and small.

Rob

Can you tell us the version of your TW?  You can use the <<version>> macro.

What does "manually saved it" mean?

I did a short test with win8.1, FF 38.0.5, TiddlyFox 1.0alpha18.1-signed downloaded from http://classic.tiddlywiki.com/

 - I did create a new tiddler
 - click "save changes" button
   - TW dialog pops up
        Main TiddlyWiki file saved
        Backup saved
 - reload the browser

It works for me.

As Jeremy wrote. Did you check your browser add ons?
Did you disable them, except TiddlyFox?

I was having similar problems. Re-installing Tiddlyfox fixed it, but that's probably the first thing you tried.

Hi Rob

I'd echo Mario's question as to what you mean by "then manually saved it"?

Do not use the browser File/Save menu item, it does not do what you expect.

To save changes you must use TiddlyWiki's "save changes" icon - the tick in a circle over in the right sidebar.

Best wishes

Jeremy.
