I tried and made a new build of Tiddlydesktop based on Jeremy recommendation on: https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyDesktop

  1. Run download-nwjs.sh to download the latest nw.js binaries
  2. Download the TiddlyWiki5 repo from https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5 to a sibling directory to the TiddlyDesktop repo called "TiddlyWiki5"
  3. Run bld.sh
  4. Execute output/mac/TiddlyWiki.app or output/win/nw.exe or output/linux32/nw or output/linux64/nw

To do things simpler I did as below
  1. Made a new directory called TD (use whatever else you want)
  2. Download the latest source of Tiddlydesktop from https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyDesktop and unzip in the above folder (TD) it will be (TD\TiddlyDesktop-master)
  3. Download the latest version of Tiddlywiki5 from https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5 and unzip to have TD/TiddlyWiki5
  4. Download the latest version of nwjs SDK from https://dl.nwjs.io/
  5. Unzip in TiddlyDesktop-master\nwjs\ (for example for windows ypu will have nwjs-sdk-v0.33.4-win-ia32)
  6. Edit the bld.sh and remove those builds you dont want
  7. Open bash and run bld.sh
  8. That's all you will have Tiddlydesktop-v-0.0.14 and  nwjs 0.33.4 and TW 5.1.18pre

Unfortunately with this update still
  1. full screen does not work
  2. mouse right click does not work
  3. open tiddler in new window does not have the menubar

Mohammad,

Thanks for publishing such documentation to the community.

As I raised once before, On my Windows 10 computer, addressing your complaints.
  1. full screen does not work
  1. The application can be made full screen, only the bar at the top shows, which allows you to minimise and restore the window, which is your only option without say the escape key.
  1. mouse right click does not work
  1. It works but does not provide many choices, but what do you want to do from the r-click menu?, if you have text selected you can copy, if you are in an edit text field you can paste, Past as text and select all
This is not such a silly question because in my FireFox as an Example, much of what is in my R-Click menu comes from addons in the browser, TiddlyDesktop is not a browser it is an application that users some browser technology to use tiddlywiki
  1. open tiddler in new window does not have the menubar
  1. Again what are you looking for on the menu bar? From FireFox mostly all you get is Browser options
In Windows 10 If you resize this window the application top bar appears and you can access the application window menu
Please don't get me wrong but I am genuinely trying to understand what you expect to see that is missing, because when you move from a browser window, to an application window there are genuine differences dictated by this fact, and the OS's window management.

As I understand it in TiddlyDesktop the Chromium browser in use is primarily to run and render HTML content, and by definition is not a full blown browser, what it is presenting to us from TiddlyDesktop is an application running on the desktop - it thus inherits the basic window management of the platform on which it is running.

If you are a Windows user in particular, and any os in general if you can detail some of the things you are missing perhaps I can provide some workarounds, and or we can find ways to extend TiddlyDesktop to your requirements but I think we still do not have the necessary details from you.

Please share a little more.

Sincerely,
Tony

Hello Tony!
 -  Well by full screen I mean no top and status bar this is important for me when I use Tiddlyshow app (presentation mode)
 - The open tiddler in new window shows a window in fixed size and fixed at top left, you can not move it around! because there is no titlebar and you cannot use mouse to move it around! Each time I have to resize it to see the titlebar and then move it!  So, in my opinion it is a bug!
 - The right-click local menu is not crucial now and one accept the minimum capability it has

I'm guessing the positioning was based on what happens on Mac.

If I resize an opened-as-new-window tiddler down and to the right, a tiny bit of the upper bar appears. Then I am able to move the window out of the corner.

How do you run bash? Do you run cygwin, or boot into a linux machine for that part?

I note that once I have floating opened-as-window tiddler, I can't shrink it any further than a certain size. I would like to shrink it and move it to the side of the screen like post-it note.

Mark,
Actually, I have already installed Git for Windows and it has a version of bash. I run the git-bash.exe actually on Windows!

I've got that too. I didn't realize it's shell was so complete.
