Is it possible to import mind maps (Freemind, Xmind, MindManager and etc) as linked tiddlers in TiddlyWiki?

Do they share an export file format? If so, what is it and can you post an example file?

Well almost all programs support the .mm FreeMind format:

There is no out of the box support for this, but there are two options that should do what you want but with some tweaking and work:
1) use the new xml plugin (search this group for it) to create tiddlers from the xml file.
2) write a custom deserializer to import freemind format xml. Not difficult but requires javascript knowledge.

FYI:

Freemind, and Freeplane have multiple export and save formats. For example you could save it as a html and import that, or before you fully import ise an iframe to visualise it inside a tiddler.

If you do make an importer do share, it would be a good community contribution.

I did some research with prototype code, to create a Freemind import / export function, quite some time ago, for TiddlWiki Classic. ..

It never happen, since FreeMind changed the "text editor", that did store notes linked to mindmap nodes, from plain text to html.

This made it unusable for me, because I wanted to use "wikitext notes" in both apps. Experiments where done with a 0.x.y beta version of FreeMind. So I would need to have a closer look again. It's V 1.0.1 atm, but the project seems to be abandoned.

FreeMind was the only open source mindMapper, that I liked. So I didn't have a closer look at other apps except TiddlyMap.org ;)

have fun!

Freeplane I mentioned is the Sucessor to freemind. I believe it also has xml output. However both are java script solutions I used to dream about someone brining it into tiddlywiki. Probably too much work, any way I think tiddlymap dominates this space. Not that I have worked tiddlymap out myself.

A graphical mind map as easy as these apps would be nice. Recent developments like Saq's outline bullets, yet to be published will help in a textual way.
