Hi Guys,

I've just started to play around with TW5 to use it to create a knowledge base and I need to ask a question. In the (empty) TW that I have created i don't seem to be able to add a PDF image (the option isn't there under images) when creating a tiddler. I assume i can do this (from the help docs) but is there some configuration i need to switch on before i can?

Many thanks,

Sid.

Check out the pdf example in the docs, particularly in edit-mode (see type field).
You may also be interested in Tobias/Måns example of embedding external pdfs.

Also note this browser issue.

TiddlyWiki supports importing PDF images via drag and drop or the “import” button in the Tools tab, but doesn’t support directly creating PDF images within TiddlyWiki.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Many thanks,

Sid.

Hi Mat, many thanks for the response. Unfortunately I've not been able to find the reference to the PDF example - I'd still like to if you can point me to somewhere more specific I should be looking. I did however look at Tobias's example and I learned a bit by getting this working. I think what I'm trying to do though is have the pdfs live within the body of the TW which I guess requires them to be imported. I'm going to respond to Jeremy's post with an issue I've encountered trying to do this.

Thanks again Mat.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your post. Many of the documents I've accumulated are in PDF and so I think importing them is what I'd like to be doing to create a single, searchable resource available from any of my machines. However when I try and import using drag and drop or the import function the file isn't recognised as PDF and is displayed as garbage. The TW i've created so far is empty with the Documents and Help plug-ins added. Do I need something more setting up before I can get this to work?

Thanks again for your help,

Sid.

I simply mean to type in "pdf" in the tiddlywiki.com searchfield. Actually there isn't any actual documentation, just an example which is what I was referring to.

It may be a good idea to try out your stuff in at least one more browser just to make sure it's not a browser issue you're struggling with.

Hi Sid,

If you have your PDFs on your hard drive in the same directory as your TW,
or in a subdir called e.g. PDFs, you could us the embed tag.
That works for me anyway.

Code: <embed width=800px height=800px src="subdir/NameOf PDF.pdf">

Salut! Ed.

Thanks for the clarification Mat. I'll try the different browser as well once I can stop the day job getting in the way.

Thanks for the suggestion Ed, I will give that a go if I can't get the import to work quickly.
