Is there a TiddlyWiki Tiddler Outlook extension.

As a software developer I have been a fervent fan of TiddlyWiki in my working life for many a year. With the ability to create 'tiddlers' or notes which can contain tags, references to other tiddlers by name or tag, text or standard resources such as URLs, email addresses and external executables etc.  I was able to create and maintain a versatile PC day-book, which I copied, modified and swept as I moved from project to project.
The markdown editor was a very adaptable and much loved feature, though it is the use of tags I miss the most.

Working in a secure environment I have since lost the ability to use TiddlyWiki as a standalone HTML or the desktop variant.

I attempted to use MS Outlook, but the lack of tagging notes (unsent emails) is a major bind.

Does there exist an Outlook extension that would help me forget the loss of TiddlyWiki.

By "secure" environment you perhaps mean "Windows"? Have you tried the HTA hack? Change the extension of your TW file to HTA, double click on it in explorer,  and it may be able to run and save in it's own window. The formatting may be a little different, but that may not be important.

If you're on Windows, it would seem that One-Note would be a better substitute than Outlook. Perhaps if you tried an Outlook forum they would have suggestions.

If you have access to the internet than I have everything needed for Bob that has a secure sign in and https. If you have access to (or are willing to get) a small vps it doesn't take much to have your own server with Bob on it.

I have been considering setting up a server that people could have their own wikis served on it (like tiddlyspot), but I would need to cover the development cost for the administration tools for that setup. Before I brought up a shared server there wasn't much of a response so I am not sure that will happen any time soon.

Perhaps you could share details of how your environment is secured, more to the point what can you do?

Can you download files, what browsers do you have or can you install a browser, is your internet restricted, does it restrict known sites, or unknown sites, have you used tiddlyspot or looked at Marffapad to host your wiki, have you looked at notself even just in browser session saving, can you send and recieve email attachments, have you or do you know someone who can host a tidlywiki for you, does your organisation use google or microsoft cloud platforms. Can you use a thumb drive or dvd to place files on your computer.

Some email system block some file types as attachments to stop hackers, but you can treat them differently to intentionaly get them transfered with manual intervention. What email system do you use?

A tiddlywiki can be treated as a document rather than software in many cases.

Don't know if this could help. There is an open source app, based on Tiddlywiki Classic, that integrates into Outlook: http://www.jello-dashboard.net/.

 

I also tried to use TW5 empty.html as an Outlook folder homepage. It worked fine and saved changes. To make it able to interact with Outlook environment as Jello does, Outlook API knowledge is required. I don't have such, so I stopped my experiments.
