Is there a better way to build my homepage?

Greetings and good tithings. I'm adding more Tiddlies to my homepage and I find that I keep going into control panel to add it to the "home page" dialogue. 

Is it possible to link the tiddlies to a parent tiddly and then assign that parent tiddly to the home page dialogue? such that, any tiddly I assign to that parent tiddly automatically gets added to my homepage? It's a small thing, but I'm still curious anyway.

Absolute newbie here but isn't what you are looking for the "Default tiddlers" setting in the Control panel (in version 5.1.18)?

Create a Homepage tiddler, transclude content either manually or based on a "startup" tag, etc.

Is it possible to add just one tiddler to that box and then have any tiddlers with that tag launch on startup?

The text in that box is evaluated as a filter, so if you have a tag you want to use just put [tag[MyTag]] into the box and everything tagged with MyTag will be displayed.
