Hello to all (and especially to the Mac users),

since I updated my browser from Safari 9 to the latest version (i.e. Safari 10, released last week), I reproducibly get the red JavaScript error box when accessing a TiddlyWiki via HTTP. I experience this on tiddlywiki.com and also with the local family wiki (TW 5.1.13 served by node.js). The error does not occur when opening a TiddlyWiki in the file system.

Do others observe this behaviour as well or am I the only one? Any idea on how this can be resolved?

Hi Henning,

You could open the browser dev tools with F12 and have a look at the Console tab. Are there any messages?

Hi Mario,

sure, and these are the errors I see in the console when accessing tiddlywiki.com:

[Error] SyntaxError: Cannot declare a const variable twice: 'msg'.

(anonyme Funktion)
[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 405 (Not Allowed) (tiddlywiki.com, line 0)
[Error] Script error.
 error
(tiddlywiki.com:23827)
 onerror
(tiddlywiki.com:23854)
[Error] ReferenceError: Can't find variable: isTopLevel
 Globaler Code (pageEndScript.js:8)

Does this help?

Hi Henning,

Are you using any safari extensions and if yes which?
Did you try deactivating them to see if the error persists?

Best wishes,

Tobias.

Hi Tobias,

Bingo!  Your questions put me on the right track. The guilty extension was 'RSS Menu'. I had used it for several months without problems, but apparently it is not compatible with the latest Safari. Anyhow, I disabled it and now tiddlywiki.com and my local wiki are loading without any errors.

Thank you, Tobias and Mario, for your kind help.

Best,
-Henning
