Hello again all you wonderful people, I'm excited to introduce another of my little creations which I would like to call the fields tag to further the tiddler experience. Please forgive me if anyone else has created anything like this already. Simply import the template and tag any tiddler you want with the fields tag to have it's fields display at the bottom of the tiddler magically formatted. Any feedback welcome. http://t5a.tiddlyspot.com/#Fields%20Tag

Hi Andrew,

Nice, this can be very useful.

I would not use this with a fields tag, though.

Perhaps a better place for such a thing
is a checkbox somewhere in the info-panel,
stored as a field, rather than a tag, e.g.

tw-show-fields: true

Or, a button that adds the title
to some system-tiddler-list of titles
for which to show the fields,
or removes it from that list, via toggle.

For me, even if per-tiddler, this is configuration,
whereas I want tags to be for content-categorization only;
that is unless we're looking at a system tiddler.

Best wishes,

— tb

Hello,

This seems to be very useful, thank you very much. But I agree with Tobias that I don't like the tag approach. I would prefer a field that holds true if fields should be shown. Regards.

How about a fields field that way you have a place to input the fields that you don't want to show up? But what would it be called? tf-fields? I didn't want to make a plugin.

Wanting to show fields at a tiddler might not necessarily mean "all fields", that's true.
I guess that will always be a matter of preference... and fiddling.
Not sure, what exactly you mean with a tf-fields field.
I would certainly not define that on a per-tiddler basis,
at least not by default... that would probably better be global.

As far as a global setting as a PR or a plugin, I don't feel the incentive to create another option for the control panel. This just feels like it could be handled with a template. That is what $:/tags/ViewTemplate tag is for isn't it? I think a fields field or something? I'd like to know what name I can use for the fields field. I feel stupid asking stupid questions.

Hi Andrew,

I'm one who thinks there are no "stupid" questions, only "stupid" answers.

Just to be clear, global does not (necessarily) mean controlpanel, it only means there's one or more system tiddlers holding the configuration appropriately, separate from the script, macro or template that uses it to build the desired output.

Best wishes,
