Should I be getting a file browser or something?  As you can see in the screenshot, I'm not.  I've also tried dragging and dropping, nothing happens.  I'm running TiddlyDesktop v5.1.23, which I downloaded and installed yesterday.  This is in MacOS, with my .html file stored on Nextcloud.  Text-based tiddlers are working fine.

Holly,
Try this link https://tiddlywiki.com/#Insert%20picture After having read the explanation, try to open the tiddler as if to edit it. Try the insert picture button. Then you will see how it works, when there are images to select from in the wiki.

To use it in your own wiki, you will ned to import some images or insert your image with a link to the image file using the field _canonical_uri.
Now using Tiddlydesktop, you should be able to use ExternalAttachmentsPlugin

Ok.. I've got it to work now, but probably not as intended?  The "new image twiddler" button still does nothing.  Clicking it and dragging an image to it creates a new twiddler for importing the image (via it's filename) that seems to be indepent of the twiddler opened by the new image button.  Also, the _canonical_uri is always set to be a directory up from wherever the image was dragged from (so, ../path_to_dragged_image instead of ./path_to_dragged_image) so now I'm off to search for where that is set so I can correct it in the source so I don't have to do it by hand every time I import an image.

This is going to be a bit of an annoying workflow since I have to pre-stage the image where I want it to live (so in my [main TiddlyWiki folder]/media directory) and then do the drag and drop.  Hopefully I can automate this step on my phone for my own photos.

 Which OS are you using?

I vaguely think that I reported a problem earlier where the wrong _canonical_uri path was created on Windows.

The editor image button helps you to insert images that have already been imported into your TW file.

Another approach, if you know your directory path, is to load a list of files into a tiddler data dictionary, and then run a button that creates all the _canonical_uri tiddlers for you.
