Just started with Tiddlywiki and I am wondering what I am doing wrong when I try to  insert pictures into a  tiddler, as the methods listed in the help site don't seem to work:

1. Clicking on the image icon in the WikiText editor pops up a small window with a check box for "Insert system tiddlers" and the UK flag (?).

2. Using the [img [name_of_file_In_same_dir.png]] syntax produces only the broken image icon

3. Importing the image with drag and drop has no effect

My Tiddlywiki file is hosted on Dropbox and accessed through the twcloud method.

Help appreciated

Do you mean TiddlyWiki in the Sky with Dropbox? Don't think it can serve up images.

You should be able to drag and drop images, but that's not a good idea except for small images.

Hi,

Are you sharing your images from Dropbox, did you check out sharing from Dropbox? https://tiddlywiki.com/#Sharing%20a%20TiddlyWiki%20on%20Dropbox

I only have a free account and since they stopped allowing TiddlyWiki hosted there I don't know if it is any different for paid accounts. Long time ago worked out a way of sharing on Dropbox. Can't seem to get a new TW on Tiddlyspot so I'll just attach three tids from a demo I did.
Download and drag into a TiddlyWiki to see examples.

Hope that helps,
Greg

Indeed that's what I am using. Didn't know it wouldn't work with images

After a few repeated tries, I found I can indeed import images and then transclude them (is that the right word?). But it doesn't work very well for bigger images

This Stackexchange post actually addresses the issue, dropbox aside:

So the bottom line seems to be:

1. For a single file _local_ Tiddlywiki --> use relative paths
2. For Node.js version --> copy into tiddlers folder, restart server, transclude
4. For Dropbox...

That's an old post. Since 5.1.18 node on TW has had the ability to serve images:

TiddlyServer and Bob can also serve images. TS will let you use whatever path you want, allowing legacy upgrades.

But all these require you to be running an instance (of node, ts, or Bob) somewhere.

But none of this is as portable as TW in the Sky.

What happened is that DB discontinued its policy that allowed images and even web pages to be served up directly from users' DB accounts. There's a lot more headaches in being a media company than being a file storage company.

Pancake.io and updog.co can be used to serve images from Dropbox.
