Hi,

today I quickly wanted to go over the topics of the past 3-4 hangouts and discovered that there are no youtube annotations anymore :(

I really liked the annotations below the video to quickly jump to the topics in the video-timeline. I don't know who was so kind to create these annotations in the past but if annotations also exist for the hangouts in the recent past, would it be possible to add them to the videos as well?

Many thanks,
-Felix

Does anyone have the code to facilitate retrieving / rendering a youtube (or any) video or audio clip in TW? Somethng like

<<playclip src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK7tYOVd0Hs" start="35:03" stop="end" icon="youtube" caption="Obama during recent euology in South Carolina">>

This would allow annotation of videos within TW. If we had that macro or something similar, we (the SUNY Poly folks) could try building an interface to the hangouts...at least to get it started. One of my students has been working on a TW implementation of this concept in a master's thesis, and this would be an interesting use case.

I made this a while ago for youtube annotations, you could probably fix it up to use your syntax. It is part of what Rich Shumaker used for his annotations. I think you only need to import that one tiddler but it has been a while since I used it so I am not certain.

I did them. The page is hangouts.tiddlyspace.com ... but as you found out, the latest hangouts don't exist. At least not from me. ... Some of them are 3 hours + ... Since creating the notes will take the same time or even more, I couldn't convince my weaker self to do them. I actually started with HO 85, but got interrupted and didn't pick it up since then .... :/

So if anyone did something, I'd happy to pick it up and add it to the page.

I'm on holidays till next weekend, so you can bump this topic in 8 days, to make me feel guilty, which actually may help :))

Sorry, I didn't mean to force you to watch videos and write decriptions
:) I just thought maybe they exist but are hidden somewhere and somebody
forgot to update the youtube description.

Thanks Mario :) I still feel bad bumping this thread with this
intention. Maybe I find time to contribute a description myself, but
this is quite optimistic...

Have a great vacation!

hi felix,

no problem, if you bump the topic. feedback like this just indicates that it makes sense to write the summaries, because they are needed. at least for some.

Allright, many thanks Mario!

I also think your video annotations are very valuable for people that
are new to tiddlywiki and want to get a quick overview of the current
challenges and topics!
