The latest version includes a new feature to have a set of tabs in the equivalent of different profiles. Have a look at the release notes and that will be clear.
I have noticed new functionality comming on line in addons that was missing. Our very own tmimi replacing tiddlyfox is a case that demonstrates it.
Im not so sure what the second plugin does.
Also looking at how tmimi works I belive it will soon produce a lot of great tools.

I now do much of my drag and drop from and to wikis using iframes in tiddlers or by dragging a tab to a new window on my multi screen setup.
I am confident you can also put a wiki in the side bar as well

Josiah: It sections the browser window so tabs become sections that you can d&d between.

Take tabs from parent windows and arrange them in layouts of tiled sub-windows, using the toolbar button, context menu or keyboard shortcuts. Makes it easy to browse, compare or monitor multiple pages. Synchronize scroll. Save and re-open layouts.
Note: Yes you can force them back into tabs.

There are still two things very easy in the old FF I use a lot that I can't find new equivalents for...
Easy ability to launch multiple profiles (ProfilistPortable add-on) ...
Split in browser (TileTabs add-on) so you can drag & drop between sections ...
I totaly understand your browser practice. I used to use multiple profiles in firefox to do the same. Unfortunatly I found it fiddly and fragile. I now do the same with chrome users however I still work as a rule in firefox.
I have a chrome user for website admin, banking and even ones for my clients. Each user remains logged into there sites, control panels or office 365 and there is no confusion having to logout and in all the time. Many of these accounts even have seperate google accounts (Gsuite)
I also use ie for office365 for compatability sometimes but without users or profiles its a pain loging in and out.
Having set this up a couple of years ago it just works and I am a happy chappy, yet I feel for you that you are now forced to rebuild your workflow because of software changes out of your control.
Yet, keep in mind bob particularly, tiddlyserver, tiddlydesktop and now timimi all make a diverse browser setup more practical.
