What should happen, if you click the link?

Say a sound file in my music folder will open or a text document will open,

The answer is Yes and No,

Perhaps clarify what you want to do with the links. Also name your Operating System. Browsers can do a lot with local files but they do reduce what Websites can do (Thus our TiddlyWIkis)

You can basically use addresses you can use in your browser such as file:///c:/Data/
You can use relative links to access files eg images folder and more
I use in FireFox (wont last) "Local Filesystem Links" to open any file:/// in WIndows Explorer.

I am using Pop_os a ubuntu/debian based linux.

What i want is to have  files on my computer refered to in a TW  and called upon with the usage of a link.
Just as I would do to something on the internet.

It is useful for referencing things that are not on the web and are too big to add to a wiki - say a large mp file or an excel document.

Also references to emails connect to an email that is on my computer.

something like that.

This is actually what brought me to TW in the first place. I wanted to achieve something like that using a text editor and someone suggested TW.

no worries if not possible.

kelsang,

Read at http://tiddlywiki.com/#Linking%20in%20WikiText and search for information in this group https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/tiddlywiki

also http://tobibeer.github.io/tb5/#filesystem-links

I use links to local resources all the time, it can be very involved, so post back if you need more details.

[[Name|file:///C:/Data/TW5/Instances]] For a folder

[[file:///C:\Users\antho\Documents\Business\Finance.xlsx]]
or
[[Finance|file:///C:\Users\antho\Documents\Business\Finance.xlsx]]

To a file recognised by the browser will open the application

Regards
Tony
