Will I be able to run TiddlyDesktop from a flash drive in both Windows & Linux?
Is TiddlyDesktop the most widely used method of resolving browser save dysfunction?
Thanks in advance for any comments!

I don't know if anyone has taken a poll to know which method is most popular for saving. I'm guessing that it would be PMario's file-backup, since that comes closest to working like the original, only requiring a plugin.

Note that if you run TiddlyDesktop in windows, TD leaves "bread-crumbs" behind on the hard drive, even if you use the --user-data-dir option. You may also need to use the task manager to completely shut it down.

I think that in order to run TD from a flash drive on linux you will need to format part of your stick with ext3 or ext4 so that you can set the permissions of the nw executable file. I was able to launch nw after mounting a VFAT flash drive with executable permissions, but then it wouldn't save the tiddlywiki. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Browser save distinction is no longer an issue in my mind. What browsers, limitations and os are available to you?

I use timini and firefox. If you can host a server or access online storage there are more options.

Perhaps detail your needs and platforms.

Thanks. I have both Google Drive and Dropbox. My browser is Firefox. Will timini work with those or is there something else that is preferable?

Your first post indicated that you needed a portable setup. Is that still the case? The problem, I think, with Timimi is that it will want to install itself into a home directory. If that's not a problem, then it might be fine for you.

Timimi needs a firefox add-on and a piece installed in the local os then you can forget it. It allows you to open and save from single files wikis in any location. As a result a localy synched cloud drive is all you need.

Like any cloud drive you must give it a chance to sync to the cloud before shutting down a device and be careful it is not opened more than once at a time.

Thank you sir. Timimi seems to work fine.
