File Size Getting Too Big

I have looked at past posts and it seems the general consensus is to use multiple files for different categories when increased file size is slowing down things. That in mind, have any solutions arisen to solve this problem of having all tiddlers in one file. My file size is  3.6 MB which is usable but I need to save very frequently (20-30 tiddlers) to maintain a sensible load time.
