Hi TWafficionados

I wrote a TiddlyWiki Jingle yesterday to show my gratitude.

@Mat thinks it is great fun :-) so I decided it should have it's own post...

Even if it sounds like some ol' jazz tune it IS an original composition and it should be quite obvious that the "hook of the melody" is a trill made by singing Tidd-ly Wiki :-).

My lacking skills for writing text/lyrics should be apparent in the fact that the text consists of 12 Tidd-ly Wikis and some extra "tiddly's" - just for the sake of getting the message delivered ;-)...

I've recorded every instrument on my guitar via a guitar synth on a loop machine (except for the drums - they were played live/in sync with the loop station on a "BeatBuddy" drum pedal..) - no pc was involved..

Melody is notated in MuseScore and the video with "karaoke" title overlays is made in KdenLive.

Video score is created online on musescore.com (or .org...)

All software used is free or open source...  (I am a paying subscriber to MuseScore org services.. - you can use it for free)

My TiddlyWiki Jingle for TW5 is licensed CC (hope it's the right license I choose?) - and if you like it you could set it up on a karaoke system in a bistro in Paris in June - and sing your hearts out - Tidd-ly Wiki - 12 times in a row...

Lyrics could be improved at this gathering  - style is swing/jazz so some improvising is encouraged when singing it :-)

Nice. Should be played as an intro to every hangout recording.

I support this idea. Not only as intro but also the outro should feature
the song. Everybody has to sing or has to leave the community. - Jeremy
has the honour to sing the first "TiddlyWiki tiddly tiddly tiddlywiki"
alone before the rest of us joins in.

Hi Felix & Stephan

I'm glad you liked it :-)

As often is the case with TiddlyWiki - you start out with a complex amount of data  - and TW helps you organize it in a way which makes it look less complicated..

Same thing goes for music - first inspired ideas for a composition are seldom simple or very structured.

Some time later, when you've played around with it it gets simpler.

I know that both Jeremy and Eric play the guitar - therefore I have made a new and simpler acoustic version.

(We don't have to expell anyone from the tw-community when they won't sing it -  if they can play it on their guitars it's ok!  ;-))

This time it's just my (at least) 30 years old guitar and simple finger strumming. (One take - no overdubbing, singing or whistling.)

Notes and chords have also been "scaled down" to a more manageable 1 page format.

Chords are now what most guitarists will recognize/expect:

Ehem... just to add myself to the musically talented people: I played
flute in Kindergarten.

Agreed

I honestly have to say it sound really beautiful. I listened the
acoustic guitar version multiple times. Great job on this one Mans!

Hi Måns

I am most touched by your composition, it's a lovely idea and you have executed it beautifully. I feel terribly important to have my name enshrined in song!

I shall look forward to playing the jingle at the hangout tomorrow - and we can talk about the next steps: a stage show, a film and of course a limited edition vinyl record :)

Best wishes

Jeremy

Actually you can sing "Jeremy Ruston" instead of Tidd-ly Wiki all the way through the song, if you like ;-)

If we were to make a film about TiddlyWiki - there's already a film entitled "MirrorMask", which i.m.o. presents many great associations with/to TiddlyWiki and life in general.
The imagery is fantastic. Books are vehicles for transportation and the film is full of great symbols, mirroring a view on our selves, life and a "keyhole view" on the "real world".

I look forward to hear the jingle being sung at the next hangout :-D

Hi @TwHangouters #83

Thank you for playing the jingle at the hangout - especially watching Jeremy "chair dancing" without any sound in the background was epic, and something I will remember for years :-D

@Eric I have attached a midi-file. It is not very musical - and does not sound very pleasing to the ear. It's just a machine rendering of the notation I made in MuseScore with the pc keyboard and a mouse . The sounds you hear are simply sounds from your pc's soundcard.

A better/more musical alternative would be to create a new midi file recorded live with a midi keyboard or my guitar recordings as mp3 or ogg files.
If you want a mp3/ogg file I will create them for you.

I don't play keyboard or piano - so if you want a "swinging" midi file we'll need someone to record the jingle as a midifile for us.
