I came to TW from roam.

after using Roam for a few weeks I loved it but I was really worried about the announced priced tag and found TW looking for alternatives.

First I started with TiddlyBlink then put Drift together and never looked back

So far not missing any features in roam (maybe the map a bit)

Just went to the roamresearch page. They're not taking any new sign-ups! You have to get on a wait list.

If you don't mind my asking, since it's not in their published links and I can't sign in even if I wanted to, how much is the new Roam price structure?

Yay! Though he does qualify his praise heavily, as being nerdy and requiring some patience (both are fair comments), he twice says that Stroll is the option he reviewed that comes closest to providing a Roam-like experience.

From May 5

Beta price for Roam will be $15/month 50% off for those - under 21 - with .edu email addresses - provide evidence they earned under 30k USD last year. If that's too expensive for you, recommend exporting your Roam data now and using another tool until we make a freemium plan.

This may be old news, but there was another video about Roam alternatives that popped up:

It also covers Stroll and has had twice as many views as the post in the OP.

Mark S,

Didn't you tell us that just the name tiddlywiki prevented people using it?
Roam research seems to be popular and loved, but having to sign up, be put on a waiting list and soon having to pay 15$ a month seems to make a lot of people wanting to try tiddlywiki (Stroll, Drift). Not having to sign up, no waiting, go straight to download 24/7, Not all is in the name.

I love to watch those youtubes, tiddlywiki mentioned with no giggling.

They're buying into it partially because they are being introduced to it as "Stroll", with only a rapid side mention of "tiddlywiki". More importantly, they're probably not from the largest English speaking country on the planet. Once again, notice that a high proportion of the people coming to the forum are from the EU or UK.

The name prevents people, IN THE ABSENCE OF EVANGELIZATION, to skip it when looking for solutions. There are dozens (hundreds?) of personal information managers and wikis. People don't time to evaluate all of them. So they'll skip solutions that are have unappealing names. But if they're watching a video, and getting the product presented by someone who has already evaluated the product, they'll listen longer.
