upgrade.html does still requires an upgrade on each tiddler

I've downloaded my V2.6.1 TWC from tiddlyspot.  I've opened both a local and remote version of upgrade.html in Firefox.  I drop my tiddlyspot file onto upgrade.html, import all and save.  When I open the upgraded file all of the tiddlers still have the upgrade button.  I thought this process was supposed to prevent that.  How can I make it work so I don't have to upgrade each of my many tiddlers?

Thanks,
TD

Sorry, I meant upgrade all, not import all

With the message: This tiddler is written in TiddlyWiki Classic wiki text format, which is not fully compatible with TiddlyWiki version 5. See http://tiddlywiki.com/static/Upgrading.html for more details.

HI TD,
there is support for TWC wiki text in tw5 via a plugin:

Is there an automated way to convert my TWC wiki to TW5?

If you have lots of Tiddlers and if you have your wiki in html file (instead of Node) your could make a copy, just to be safe. Then, use a text editor like Notepad++ and do a search for
type="text/x-tiddlywiki"

and replace it with
type=""

The new tw5 wikitext is not completely the same as the classic wiki text and there is no automatic way to convert the classic wiki text. If you have not used a lot of plugins in your classic tw then if you use the tw2parser plugin the tiddlers (of type text/x-tiddlywiki)  will display correctly and the upgrade message will disappear.

cheers

I'm finding it frustrating that an upgrade without using a the tw2parser seems messy.  Why wasn't there a one stop conversion utility built?  Is it just too hard to automate?

Support for TW2 wikitext is packaged as an external plugin because it's quite a lot of code that we don't want to carry around in the core all the time.

The TW2->TW5 upgrade path is in development; the plan would certainly be to streamline the process as much as we can,

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Any news on this upgrade path?  I still have a mass of my information in TW Classic and would love to move on to TW5.

Thanks, TD

Hi Jeremy, how is the development of the TW2->TW5 converter going?  Is there somewhere I can check it's status?

Thanks
TD

Hi,
I was searching around for updating my TW2 to TW 5. Finally I landed here and I am posting here only to show you that such an upgrade solution is still necessary for old TiddlyWiki Users.
Best regards and many thanks for all your work
Manni
