Hi, I'm meeting my son this weekend  for a few days of fishing on the Farmington before he leaves the country for 6 weeks in Patagonia.   Never fished the Farmington, from what I can glean from the web sounds promising.  Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.  thanks

Terry – call me or come by.  I’ve fished it a LOT and have some resources for you if you want to read over some details about the river.

Could try one of the local fly shops up there

I haven't fished there, but I have purchased used equipment from them and they are great to deal with.

I grew up fishing on the Farmington. Are you fishing up in New Hartford or are you fishing the Avon/ Burlington/Collinsville stretch? The Silver Bridge (rte 4/Unionville) is the lower delineation for trout water...

Nice job Terry.  Hope there were a few more of those.  Hope the tips helped too.

Well after the fact, but perhaps this blog is useful for future reference, http://currentseams.com/. Farmington is his home stream.

The plastic hatch, eh? I may head up to Harpers on Sunday, perhaps at oh-dark-thrity to get the jump on the rubber hatch.

I want to talk kayaks with you sometime (mark.sofman (at) gmail.com) - I went down to Appomattox River Co.'s demo day in Farmville this past Saturday - hot and muggy as all get out but still a good day to test drive boats. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch. Presently I'm ruminating on Native Ultimate 12 or FX12, Native Slayer 12 and Jackson 'Cuda 12. There were others I liked a lot but they were on the heavy side  - I had my fill of orthopedists in my college years. ;-) Also, for off list, I might have some usefull contacts for your son's (Colin? CRS strikes again) company.
