Local fishing Odd-balls this weekend

Well, I was sight-casting to some carp and got one take.....but lost him after 3 seconds or so.  We did manage a yellow bullhead, tons of crappie, sunfish, etc. and a brown trout.  

Is this other thing a golden shiner?  I don't recall shocking those and haven't caught one yet I don't think.

Yea that's definitely a golden shiner. Great bait for largemouth bass in the southern states. Can't say I've ever seen a fly mimic a golden shiner. Wherever you were has some nice fish diversity.
