Had a great 2 days with Captain Jason Sullivan (rising tide charters) in the everglades near Flamingo Visitor Center.  This is an incredible resource and totally pristine.  Worth putting on your bucket list.

Highlight was 2 tarpon in 90 minutes on the 2nd day (and several more hookups).  60 and 80 lbs (my fishing partner got the bigger one).  Lots of snook, some redfish, jacks, and some amazing baby tarpon (5lbs) that were boiling up a small estuary stream on a dropping tide.

Next time, I'd use a lighter leader and and break off the bigger tarpon after a few minutes - fighting these great fish to exhaustion has to be hard on them, and is also hard on older anglers :-)  The fish's jaw is so bony that fly would come right out.

Tarpon rods were 10wts with floating/intermediate lines and pretty big dark flies.  6wt or 7wt for the rest.

Now THAT's a report!  Great pics!  And thanks for transporting me beyond the DC Metro.

Ah was there the first of Feb doing the DIY thing with my kayak. Don't think I had nearly as much fun though. Few redfish, snook, and a wee little tarpon. Nothing to alert the media about, but it was a blast.
