Any recommendations on fishing spots next weekend, preferably flatwater in Northern VA or thereabouts? Burke Lake? Occoquan at Fountainhead Reg'l Park?  Thanks.

What do you want to catch, and what is your range?

I just had this exact same demographic (3 people, 2 using spin rods and me on the fly) and we took canoes out on the SF shenandoah all day today.  The last time we fished the same section it was cold and we totally stuck out.  This time we caught 100+ fish, though most were fairly small.  Just a few monster bluegill and smallies all over the place.  Small ones though.  They were hitting and chasing nearly everything we threw out there.  It was really a lot of fun ;).  I focused on mostly floating patterns under debris and shaded banks and also a few streamers in the good runs, they threw almost nothing but spinners with gold blades.  Poppers, foam beetles, clousers, woolly buggers, MM minnows, etc.- everything worked.  I don't think it mattered much.

You could try there -- provided storms don't do anything crazy.  Today was good anyway.  Fly fishing from a canoe/kayak isn't my top choice, but the canoe was easier for me than the kayak.

So, I'm thinking about Riverebend Regional Park next weekend - 2 guys, one canoe, some wading, some fishing from the boat.
